Born Genevieve Aeos Venria de Vahl af Calixis, daughter of a distant von Valancius heir and a planetary governor. To escape civil unrest on her father’s planet, the family essentially went into hiding on a grand voidship. Genevieve was born on the ship and lived her whole childhood there as a civil war broke out and the other noble families on the planet squabbled for control. Without her father there to surrender and with no proof of his death (since he still lived) the civil war dragged out unnecessarily for years.
The family would make infrequent stops on Dargonus to maintain political relations with the von Valancius side of the family. On one of these occasions, though, assassins murdered Genevieve’s father in the hopes of finally ending the war on his home planet. They captured Genevieve and her mother, intending to force them to swear fealty to the lord who had seized control of the planet. Despairing her impending murder or torture, as surely a lowly distant relative would not warrant von Valancius intervention, her mother tried to kill them both with poison.
She died, but Genevieve survived with intervention from the assassins. Her voidborn status made her a much less desirable target than her mother had been, as few on the planet even knew that she existed. As such, they debated killing her as well, but settled on delivering her to the new lord anyways.
Once at her new ‘home’, Genevieve was kept as an amusing pet, essentially. Her body was unused to the real climate, and coupled with adjusting to her new augmentations she was quite frail and weak. However, she used her position to gather secrets and make alliances with other minor nobles, and forge relationships with both servants and criminals. A forged will and a well-planned murder later and Genevieve had little problem convincing the masses to rally behind her in defense of her claim to the planet.
After seeing her father’s horrible avoidance of their problems, her mother’s despair that no noble would come rescue them, and owing her position to the help of the people, Genevieve is mainly iconoclastic. Not because it's right, necessarily, but definitely because she's seen that having friends (in high, low, and odd places) benefits her greatly.

Her two closed ports on the right side correspond with two points where her captors could interfere with her working memory and executive function and essentially lobotomize her for periods of time.
The two central/left tubes cover ports where her captors would interfere with her thalamus and hypothalamus, and long-term damage led to a need to have two cerebrospinal fluid tubes connected to another port further down her spine, ensuring temperature control and homeostasis along with cleanliness of the CSF around the damaged areas. The furthest left tube on her temple connects to her cheek augmetic to innervate her jaw.
Her cheek augmentic attaches to the pterygoid muscles in her jaw and mouth and reconnects them with the mandibular branch of the trigeminal nerve through one of the ports in her left temple so she can speak after the torture she underwent.
Her cheekbone augmentic helps filter pollutants and allergens in her sinuses as she grew up breathing artifical air.
Her mother’s poison was an injectible - it started spreading down her left arm where she got the dose first, paralyzing and partially necrotizing the tissue.
